Fleet "Canuck" Model 80 - Still Flying With Grace
This year, 2016, marks the 70th anniversary of the Fleet “Canuck” Model 80. It is a truly Canadian aircraft with a rich aviation heritage. Aircraft engineer J.O. (Bob) Noury created the “Noranda” and in 1945 he sold its design to the Fleet Aircraft Co. in Fort Erie, Ontario. Fleet made some changes to the original design including using metal wing spars and ribs, as well as upgrading the engine to a Continental C-85. With the certification completed in early 1946, the Fleet “Canuck” Model 80 was born.
